After over a 4 month abscense from the WMP skinning forefront, and over 10 months since the last installment of BASIC, BASIC Version 5 is Finally available to the public.
As is with all of the installments of BASIC, this skin is based around being the most easy to use, functional, and sleekest skin that I could possibly make. Graphics, as many of you would say "unfortunately" have taken a back-seat, but the coding and functionality shines through in all it's glory. This skin has nothing obvious and special to boast about, other than how it is a skin that you will keep coming back to, I can gaurentee that. As always, I can gaurentee that this code is completely bugless, no matter how much you hammer on this skin, it will always work. I gaurentee that, it's earned the "Reeses2150 Seal Of Approval". This skin has 7 differant themes, which is a first for the BASIC series. Almost every element of this skin was remade completely from the ground up, using very little coding from the previous BASIC skins. I'm also really proud of the customizability of this skin, almost every element has SOME bit of customizable preferances you can set. That's especially true for the Playlist, which for once, you have COMPLETE control over what is displayed. I've made this skin with efficiancy in mind, and due to that, sometimes, it may get a bit confusing to operate some elements at first. So I made a special HELP menu to be shown when you first load the skin, and then to be accesible anytime you want. The HELP window here is a lot differant than you'd think. When the HELP window is open, whenever you bring the cursor over almost any part of the skin, the HELP menu will instantly display Info/Instructions/details about that element, so It's easy a sin to use. This is probably going to be my last solo skin, definitely my biggest. I'm planning on everything from here on out being collabs between myself and someone else doing the graphics. But knowing myself, this may or may not be true. So don't count me out just yet... Official Count: 2480 Lines Of Code, 80000 Characters, 39 Images, 3 Months, and 372 Hours Total. You can read more about BASIC5 by going to the page on my site, BASIC Version 5 --------------------- Figured I'd update this, because people are still downloading this version. I redid the skin not a few months ago, and I really think it's a HELL of a lot better than this one. [link] |

Confusion is human nature... Then again so is confusing.
One thing that can happen: The controls get quite small at resolutions higher than 1280x1024 so you have to be precise with your mouse.
But apart from that, this is a great skin with lots of useful functions.

Thnx for the support, and the praise, definitely.
You see, that's the reason I keep doing what I do. Whether it's photography, or WMP, or anything else. And I'm talking to everyone now. Feedback, even if it's negative, is always welcome from me. Just the feeling of making an impact, that's what motivates me to keep going....
but again Eoweniel, thnx.

As for your suggestions/problems with the skin: I actually WAS planning on having the volume slider on the main view of the skin, but then I realized, I had noplace to put it! I mean, honestly, where would it fit? The only place I could think of was if I took the position slider on the metascreen, cut it in half, and had the volume slider take up the bottom half of the metascreen, and the position slider on top. but then they would be about 4 pixels high. Way to small for anyone to really use. But the size of the controls, well. I can't really say anything there. That is a great point, as was the last one, but hey, I have 800x600 resolution, so I can't really judge that type of a situation. I just designed the main view to be as low-profile as it could be, so that if you wanted to, you could close all the other views/metascreen/menu, and just tuk the skin in the top-right corner of the screen and never notice it. but either way, I'mn starting to rant now, so I'll just stop b4 I go too far.
but again, thnx for the comment, praise, and especially the suggestions. I don't get much constructive criticism, and I think that CC is the most important type of comments you can get...
